It has 55% of Traminer and 45% of Sauvignon Blanc. In Soviet times, Traminer was used in blends mainly to produce sparkling wines. In them, it was often combined with Sauvignon, but also involving other varieties of grapes. Traminer for still wines had long been produced as a monosort dessert wine, less often \u2013 as dry wine.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>This makes sense<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But recently Moldovan winemakers liked to work with blends. I met Traminer \u2013 Chardonnay and Traminer \u2013 Sauvignon Blanc \u2013 Chardonnay among them, while the winemakers from Chateau Vartely, headed by the Executive Director Arcadii Fosnea, saw the combination in Traminer and Sauvignon Blanc wines.<\/p>\n<p>Most likely, such a choice is not random, since, according to studies conducted at the University of California, Davis, where in 1996 the genomes of both varieties were decoded, they are relatives. In other words, their tandem in the wine from Chateau Vartely should be harmonious.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What<\/strong> <strong>is<\/strong> <strong>the<\/strong> <strong>result<\/strong><strong>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The wine is of light straw color with green hue. The first nose \u2013 the aromas of roses and currant leaves \u2013 this is how Traminer and Sauvignon Blanc have immediately presented themselves. This is at once bright and promising. The aroma of wine also has other floral hues, citrus notes. When the wine is in the glass for some time, it is felt that Sauvignon Blanc, despite a smaller proportion, starts to push Traminer out, showing its character. It is very interesting to watch this rivalry. Afterwards candy nuances appear.<\/p>\n<p>This wine has 14% of alcohol, but it is easy to drink it. The taste is fresh, slightly mineral, with lime note.
