FETEASCA NEAGRA – An extraordinary wine made from fragrant berries grown in the vineyards of the Budjak steppe. The wine’s delicate yet intense texture shows a complex character that reveals a vivacious bouquet with subtle berry notes. Its slightly spicy aromas and rather generous fruit extract are complemented by a velvety and elegant aftertaste. Body and bright wine with the typical Feteasca Neagra elegance and refined tannins.
The variety has a history of over 2,000 years and comes from the Prut River Valley in southwestern Moldova. It is believed that this variety was grown directly from the wild. Feteasca Neagra is one of the most cultivated varieties in the Republic of Moldova. Plantations in the Republic of Moldova constitute – 242.0 ha, including 54.0 ha registered for producing PGI wine products. It occupies 3rd place among the indigenous varieties by area.
From this variety can be obtained both exceptional rosé wines and extraordinary red wines aged in quality wood, resulting in wines with great potential and pronounced typicality.
The aromatic profile highlights aromas of berries, cherries, prunes, raisins, lightly seasoned, with hints of violet, cinnamon, black peppercorns, allspice or vanilla, all becoming deeper and finer once aging takes place.
Feteasca Neagra can produce high-quality red wines with a full-bodied taste and an integrated structure.
