1st place at an international competition. Moldovan wines were appreciated by the World Trade Organization.
The Republic of Moldova, represented by the Château Vartely Wine Company, ranks 1st, the category of dessert wine, at the traditional wine contest held annually by the World Trade Organization (WTO). The winning brand from the Republic of Moldova was the Chardonnay sweet from the central area of Orhei.
The Republic of Moldova participates for the second time in this contest.
The quality, flavor and nuance of wines was assessed according to a formula set by World Trade Organization experts, and the awarding of the marks for each wine category was done by diplomats of the WTO member states as well as by senior international officials of various organizations based in Geneva.
This year, the winners of this year’s wine-making contest have exhibited in 45 countries including Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Russia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, USA, Uruguay, New Zealand, Kingdom of Morocco, Spain, Ukraine.
