Since the beginning of time, people have been trying to find out who they are, where they come from, and where their path lies. Wine and its legends are part of our DNA and ancient history, and it’s hard to precisely say when it began.
Almost three millennia ago, our ancestors, the Dacians and Getae created countless different drinks in these parts to make their lives a little sweeter and more pleasant. We, the descendants, now proudly continue their work. And even though much has changed in the world since then, devotion, harmony with nature, local traditions, and hard-working hands have remained unchanged values.
This is how we perceive the philosophy of the Totem wine series – a collection of five wines filled with the symbolism of the native land and its legends. We can easily distinguish familiar aromas in their rich bouquet because these wines are created in our homeland, where we grew up.
Each Totem wine fully reveals the characteristics of autochthonous grape varieties: Feteasca Regala, Feteasca Neagra, Rara Neagra and Viorica, which, performing solo or in pairs with each other, fully reveal and reflect the area, land, traditions, and generosity of our country, where a person has devoted himself entirely to winemaking and viticulture.

We were inspired to create this collection of wines by another innovation of the Chateau Vartely company, introduced in 2021. This projection show “Legend of Wine Château Vartely”, which can be seen at our winery in the wine cellar, where the wine matures in barrels. You can watch this unique show online as well.
